Round duration

How is round time chosen?
Round time is how long the explainer has each turn. Sixty seconds is a common default; 30–45 seconds feels faster, 90–120 seconds more relaxed. Shorter rounds increase pace; longer rounds allow more strategy.

Pass rules

What is a pass?
Passes let the explainer skip tough cards. Each team has a pass budget. Skipping usually does not change the score (depending on your scoring). A limit of 0 means unlimited passes. Limits like 3–5 make passes more strategic.

Team names

Customize team names
Give your teams memorable names—they appear on the scoreboard during play. Names can be up to 50 characters.

Difficulty

How do difficulty levels work?
Easy, medium and hard change how tough the words and taboos are. You can pick more than one level for variety. At least one level must stay selected.

Categories

How do categories affect the game?
Categories control which themes appear in the word pool. Pick at least one. Use “Select all / clear all” to toggle every category at once.

Number of taboo words

What does taboo word count do?
Each card shows forbidden words alongside the target. Fewer taboos is easier; more taboos forces more creative clues. Four is often a balanced choice.

Scoring

How does scoring work?
Points for a correct guess, penalty (if any) on pass, and penalty when a taboo is broken. Adjust values to make the game gentler or more punishing.

Game controls

Pause and sound
Pause lets you stop the round briefly when needed; turning it off keeps play continuous. The last-15-seconds sound reminds players that time is almost up.

Pause is available in-game via the pause control.
A warning sound will play in the last 15 seconds.
